Every April 6th, for the past 10 years, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace has been commemorated, an event promoted by the United Nations (UN) to highlight the importance of physical activity in society.
Based on its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) presented in the 2030 Agenda, the UN shares the idea that sport has the power to change the world as it’s a fundamental right and a tool that strengthens social bonds and promotes fundamental elements for the sustainable growth of the planet, such as peace, solidarity and respect.
The slogan of this year is "Marking for people and the planet", and during the day, both the United Nations and other institutions in Chile and the world will carry out activities to spread the message.
As Santiago 2023 Corporation, we join the commemoration of this date as we share the values and principles that are promoted, and we also understand the real importance of sports in people's lives and the power it has to transform societies.
