National Climbing: Riveros and Tapia secured gold in speed

Both representatives of Chile at the Pan American Games confirmed their favoritism in the speed event of the National Championship of Sports Climbing.

October 6th .- There were no surprises in the speed event of the National Championship of Sports Climbing held at the brand-new and recently inaugurated venues of Parque Cerrillos: Anahí Riveros and Joaquín Tapia, representing Chile in the Pan American Games, confirmed their favoritism and won gold medal.

In the male's competition, the silver went to Ángel Garrido, and the bronze to Jesús Morales, while in the female's competition, Fiona Forsterra got the second place, and Martina Morales got the third.

On the 15 meter wall, in the quarterfinals, Tapia recorded a time of 7.93 seconds and beat Klaus Müller, who did not complete the test (fall). Regarding the other duels of this phase, Joaquín Morales (15.35) defeated Vicente Ramírez (fall); Cristóbal Andrade (23.65) defeated Agustín Flores (fall); and Angel Garrido (14.28) defeated Fabián Forsterra (fall).

In the semifinals, Tapia (9.04) defeated Morales (fall), and Garrido (12.27) defeated Andrade (15.99). The battle for the gold was very thight, as Tapia prevailed with a time of 8.01 against Garrido's 11.32. The duel for the bronze was also close, in which Morales (12.47) defeated Andrade.

In the female's competition, Anahí Riveros surpassed Consuelo de La Fuente in the semifinals with a time of 12.93 seconds against the opponent's 33.86; meanwhile, in the other duel, Fiona Forsterra scored 21.99 and defeated Martina Morales (29.05). In the final, Riveros secured the gold by a significant margin over Forsterra, with a time of 9.27 seconds against 19.11. The third place went to Morales (28.35), who defeated De La Fuente.

The National Championship of Sports Climbing continues this Saturday with the qualifications for Bouldering and Lead, with the finals taking place during Sunday's session.
