At almost two months to the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the outlook for the different sports in competition is beginning to become clearer. This Wednesday, the group draws for the team disciplines began with water polo, in which 16 teams from the continent will compete: eight male and eight female teams.
The competition system consists of two groups of four members, all qualifying for the quarterfinal round and pairing up according to their ranking in the initial round. Then, the winners will advance to the medal competition, the champion will qualify to the Paris Olympics (or whoever follows them if they have already qualified through other means), and a quota of two for the Doha 2024 World Championships.
The tombola determined that the champion, United States, will be in Group A along with Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. Meanwhile, Group B has Canada, Argentina, Cuba, and the host Chile. In the female division, team USA (winner of the last three Olympic Games) will play against Brazil, Puerto Rico and Chile in Group B. The other group has Canada, Mexico, Cuba, and Argentina.
The competitions will be held from October 30th to November 4th at the renovated Centro Acuático of the Parque Estadio Nacional. There are still almost 1,700 tickets available on PuntoTicket to attend this competition, which can be purchased from Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
