Check the winners: Copiapó and Talagante vibed with the athletics national Grand Prix

An exciting weekend in the rekortan running track is over, it ended with important tournaments developed in the Atacama and Metropolitana Region, places where the Chilean athletes achieved outstanding results.

The eyes of Chilean athletics fans were on Copiapó and Talagante during last weekend. Both districts hosted the two South American Grand Prix organized in our country.

In first place, during Friday, May 19th, it was carried out the Orlando Guaita tournament, the most traditional and important track competition in Chile. The chosen place was the Estadio Atlético Ramón Tapia Chambillo from Copiapó, located in the Atacama Desert.

On this occasion, one of the figures that stood out was Karen Gallardo. The representative of Team Chile, who was born in Copiapó, won the gold medal in discus throw. On the other side, the sprinter Martina Weil was the fastest in female’s 200m, reaffirming her great moment.

Once the competition in Copiapó was over, the athletes went to Metropolitana Region, specifically Talagante district, where the II International Grand Prix was carried out.

There, Weil highlighted again after achieving first place in 400m, overcoming two ex worldwide champions: Salwa Eid Naser (Doha 2019) and Fiordaliza Cofil (champion in 4 x 400 mixed in Eugene 2022).

Grand Prix Orlando Guaita / Male

  • 200m - Enzo Fahuelbaum.

  • 1,500m - Diego Lacamoire, Argentina.

  • Discus throw - Lucas Nervi.

  • Hammer throw - Joaquín Gómez, Argentina.

  • High jump - Nicolás Numair.

  • Triple jump - Luis Reyes.

Grand Prix Orlando Guaita / Female

  • 200m - Martina Weil.

  • 800m - Jacqueline Weber, Brazil.

  • Discus throw - Karen Gallardo.

  • Shot put - Livia Aavancini.

  • 100m - Franco Florio, Argentina.

  • 400-hurdle meters - Bruno de Genaro, Argentina.

  • 800m - Rafael Muñoz.

  • 5,000m - Ignacio Velásquez.

  • High jump - Vicente Balgeri.

Santiago International Grand Prix / Female

  • 100m - Anaís Hernández.

  • 400-hurdle meters - Martina Weil.

  • 1,500m - Jacqueline Weber, Brazil.

  • High jump - Eliane Martins, Brazil.
