The Santiago 2023 Corporation implemented the job board directed at people with an impairment

The organizing committee of the Pan American and Para Pan American Games seeks to elevate its work inclusion standards.

The current Work Inclusion Law establishes for state organizations and private companies that per more than 100 workers they must consider an employment reservation quota of 1% for people with an impairment or beneficiary of an impairment pension. In this context, the Santiago 2023 Corporation created a special instance to triple what is established by such Law.

Said instance is the Inclusive Job Board that provides information about the vacancies that can fit with those profiles, the professional and operational characteristics.

For the beginning of the Games it’s expected that the Santiago 2023 Corporation opens 1,100 vacancies to count with at least one inclusive job position in each functional area (there are 52). The available positions include a broad diversity of professional and technician profiles, among them it’s possible to mention: system engineers, business administrators, Physical Education teachers, and architects.

The Minister of Sports and president of the Santiago 2023 board of directors, Jaime Pizarro, expressed his commitment with the project and indicated that “working is a right for everyone and it shouldn’t exclude anyone. The Games are a meeting point, therefore, I congratulate such an initiative by the Santiago 2023 Corporation, because it promotes inclusion and integration of everybody.”

According to the last Dependency and Impairment National Survey (Endide) from the Family and Social Development Ministry, 17.6% of the adult population has an impairment and more than 40% of them have a vulnerable socioeconomic situation. This evidentiates the difficulties this sector has to access the education and labor market.

The Santiago 2023 Chief Executive Officer - with broad experience in paralympic sport institutions - Gianna Cunazza, indicated the motivation of the project. “We want that, just like the Pan American and Para Pan American Games count with the same organization and athletes standard, the workers that are part of our team have such quality in order to progress by setting clear and expeditious channels for employment postulation” Cunazza indicated.
