Dederick Adds Her Third Gold Medal at Santiago 2023

The American athlete won with a Parapan American record in the 100 meters T54 class. In the male's 100 meters T11, the Venezuelan Enderson Santos emerged victorious, while in the 100 meters T12, the celebration belonged to the Argentinian Fernandez Vázquez.

Saturday, November 25th, 2023.- In the female's T54 (wheelchair) 100 meters, Hannah Dederick secured her third gold medal at the continental event and the fourth overall during her participation at Santiago 2023. 

On the track at the Centro Atlético Mario Recordón in the Estadio Nacional, the American set a new Parapan American record with a time of 16.19 seconds, surpassing the 17.30 seconds she set at Lima 2019. 

She adds this medal to those obtained in the 400 and 1,500 meters, in addition to the silver in the 800 meters. 

In second place was Argentina's Lucía Montenegro (17.06 seconds), who had won bronze four years ago, while third place went to Brazil's Aline dos Santos (17.58 seconds), who completed four medals in Santiago 2023 (also gold in 800, silver in 400 and 1,500). 

In the male's T11 (visual impairment) 100 meters, Venezuelan Enderson Santos clocked 11.40 seconds to take the victory over Brazil's Daniel Mendes (11.52 seconds), swapping places from the positions they secured in the 400 meters. 

The bronze went to the American Antoine Craig (11.56 seconds). 

Meanwhile, in the male's T12 (visual impairment) 100 meters, the gold medal went to Argentinian Fernando Vázquez, with a time of 11.18 seconds, followed by the Dominican Richard González (11.32 seconds), who also won bronze in the 400, and the Brazilian Marcos de Oliveira (11.38 seconds), who had previously secured silver in the lap around the track.
