Macarena Cabrillana Wins Emotional Bronze Medal in Tennis

The Chilean secured the third place in the discipline after defeating the Argentine María Florencia Moreno in an exciting three-set match.

Friday, November 24th, 2023.- Sometimes, bronze medal finals are as emotional as gold medal disputes, and that's exactly what happened on Friday in female's wheelchair tennis at Santiago 2023.

Local tennis player Macarena Cabrillana wanted to conclude her participation in the Parapan American Games with a medal, and she did just that by defeating Argentina's María Florencia Moreno in the bronze medal match.

In an emotional duel held at the Grandstand of the Estadio Nacional, the Chilean overcame the Argentine with a score of 6-4, 3-6, and 7-6 (5), with the host country's crowd going wild in the stands.

An indicative detail of how tight and tough the match was is that the third set lasted an hour and 30 minutes, completing a total of three hours and 9 minutes of play.

In another match of the day, the Argentinian pair Ezequiel Casco and Gustavo Fernández secured the gold in the male's doubles, defeating Brazilians Gustavo Carneiro Silva and Daniel Rodrigues 5-7, 6-1, and 10-3.
