Puerto Rico redeemed itself in handball by defeating Canada

The Puerto Rican female’s handball team, who had suffered a significant loss against Argentina, bounced back with a thrilling victory over the North American team, winning 25-20.

Wednesday, October 25, 2023.- The defeat on Tuesday against the Argentine female's handball team with a score of 46-17 left the Puerto Rican team eager for redemption in Pan American handball.

From the start, the diligent efforts of Adriana Cabrera and Nathalys Ceballos allowed them to maintain control of the game, score quickly, and establish a comfortable lead over the North American team. They went into halftime with a comfortable 15-7 advantage.

However, the second half was a different story, as the Canadian team adopted a more offensive strategy, allowing them to narrow the gap on the scoreboard. They reduced the difference to five points by the end of the game, resulting in a final score of 25-20.

Sheila Hiraldo and Cabrera were the top scorers for the Puerto Rican team, both with six points. Ceballos was another valuable player for the Puerto Rican team, contributing four points. Myriam Zimmer was the leading scorer for the Canadian team with six points.

In their next match, Puerto Rico will face Chile at 8:00 p.m. local time at Gimnasio Polideportivo de Viña del Mar,, while Canada will play Argentina in the early game at 5:30 p.m. local time. These matches are all part of Group A and will be played on Thursday.
