In 2023, Chile will host the largest sporting event the country has ever hosted: the XIX edition of the Pan American Games and the VII of the Parapan American Games. For this, the Santiago 2023 Corporation is working with full throttle to organize this multidisciplinary event in the best way.
This will be an event of great relevance for the country. So Santiago 2023 wants everyone to be part of this milestone and its history. To meet this objective, the organization of the Games seeks to involve the community from different angles and impact its social, economic and environmental development.
In the social sphere, Santiago 2023 seeks to promote values such as inclusion and encourage a healthier life, achieve greater integration and educate about disability through events and sports, all this through activities that have the community as the protagonist and that has access to the promoted spaces.
In terms of economics, the execution of these Games will allow us to contribute to the economic reactivation of the post-pandemic country. As a Corporation we can, from the sport sphere, contribute to this reactivation through job creation, participating in or supporting projects that link sport with sustainable development and giving space to small or medium-sized companies to become part of our team of suppliers.
Finally, with regards to the environment, the country together with the organizing committee will seek to ensure that waste is managed in the best way, avoiding the use of plastics and non-recyclable materials as much as possible and reducing the consumption of non-renewable energy. Sports programs, as well as their facilities and events, can contribute to raising awareness of the importance of caring for the environment.
There is no doubt that the Games are an opportunity of immense value for the country in terms of sport and infrastructure and socio-cultural and economic development. That's what Santiago 2023 works for: to make this event a win-win for everyone.
