Families got to know their future homes at the Santiago 2023 Village: “The location makes our lives easier”

The complex will host around 6 thousand athletes during the Games and after, will be the home of 1,355 families through housing subsidies.

Two of the 1,255 families that will live in the Pan American and Paraoan American village, after its use by the athletes of Santiago 2023, were able to get to know on site the progress of the constructions, valuing the work done and expression illusion when it comes to their new homes, which will be delivered definitely during the first semester of 2024.

The 17 buildings complex, that has its structure finished and presents a real progress of more than a 50%, will become one of the biggest legacies in terms of the infrastructure that will leave the organization of this multisport event, the most important in the history of our country, since the apartments will be remodeled and delivered to their definite owners, thanks to the subsidies given by the Housing and Urbanism Ministry.

Mónica Casas-Cordero, who lives in the San Miguel district, was awarded a subsidy in 2020, but at the moment of receiving it, she didn’t find apartments that followed the housing requirements for her, her son Rafael and her mother Cecilia. Until he got to know the project called Ciudad Panamericana.

“I know the district of Cerrillos because I’ve been working here for years. The village has very good connectivity, by metro it takes you 25 minutes to get to Los Leones station. This will be good for my son when he will be able to go alone to school later on. The location of the apartment makes our lives easier,” she said.

Additionally, she put emphasis on the size of the homes that will be a temporary residence for the athletes and para athletes from more than 41 countries of the Americas during October and November of next year. “The sizes of the rooms are good, it helps a lot that the spaces are not reduced,” she said.

EXPEDITIOUS ADJUDICATION PROCESS

Other family who visited the construction were Jocelyne Araya and her daughter Alanis. Same as Mónica, she obtained the 1,600 UF subsidy in 2020, but because of the pandemic the housing prices went up and was precisely the sport that got her closer to her future home.

“One day I went with my daughter to her cheerleader practice and we walked past what will be the village, we liked it, we looked on the internet and we wrote via the website to the construction company. After a few weeks they replied, we got back to the paperwork and in 15 days the approval of the loan and the accepting process were ready,” she said.

The fact that her home will be used by high performance athletes makes Jocelyn excited, number one fan of her daughter who is a cheerleader: “I like the idea, because my daughter is also an athlete and we know that after the games, the apartments will be renovated in case of any damage and we will have the home that we have been dreaming of.”

The Pan American and Parapan American village will have green areas, children games, sport equipment, a commercial area and a pedestrian walk; and is located a few blocks away from the Cerrillos metro station. Up until now, around 40% of the apartments are already assigned and the interested people can go to the information room at Avenida Pedro Aguirre Cerda 4700, Cerrillos or, on the other hand look on ciudadpanamericana.cl
