Santiago 2023 celebrated the 12,000 people enrolled as volunteers by going on a hike in Parque Metropolitano

“We want everyone to have the opportunity to be part of this party,” said Gianna Cunazza, executive director of Pan American and Parapan American Games.

To close the celebrations for the International Volunteer Day, established on December 5th by the General Assembly of the United Nations, the Santiago 2023 corporation organized a double hiking in Parque Metropolitano San Cristóbal with different groups of people taking routes from Pedro de Valdivia and Pío Nono accesses to finally meet in Mapulemu sector, the green lungs of the capital.

Once gathered, different sports and recreational activities for children and adults took place. This highlighted that in less than a year before the start of Pan American and Parapan American Games, the organization already has 12,000 people in the running to be part of the 17,000 volunteers needed to facilitate the operation of the most important multi-sport event in the American Continent.

“We are happy to be here with those who will be the heart of the Games, the volunteers, who give their time, commitment, and passion without expecting anything in return, only for the community’s well-being, and that must be highlighted,” said Gianna Cunazza, executive director of #Santiago2023.
