One year away from the Games, ¿How is Santiago 2023 moving forward?

2022 has been a year of huge milestones that characterize the period previous to the Santiago 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games. Between this, the amazing work being done at the Parque Estadio Nacional stands out, the home for sports in Chile, where the highest number of competitions will be disputed. For this, there are new precincts being built, and other ones being redesigned.

The venues for Santiago 2023, are getting ready to be stages for triumphs and records. The regions of Valparaíso, O’Higgins, Biobío and Metropolitan were confirmed to receive the whole community, which will mean an impact on 20 districts of the country.

Another highlighted point related to the Games is the sport calendar, where the official program was launched, with the dates, venues and disciplines, to not miss any detail of the competitions. Additionally, the athletes, para athletes, international committees and the community in general will be able to get to know the official qualification systems for the Games, emphasizing this important milestone that allows us to get to know the events and available quotas por this edition.

Additionally, to fully prepare for Santiago 2023, the corporation and its workforce area launched the official Volunteers program, highlighting the importance and role that the 17 thousand volunteers will contribute in knowledge and formation for the execution of this mega event, being a fundamental part of the development of the Games.

Another one of the milestones of this year was the official launch of the pictograms, on a Pan American and Parapan American version, where the sports and its disciplines came alive through the groundbreaking designs that will be with us until Games time.

The communities outreach has been a key point for Santiago 2023. For this, there have been meetings with the neighbors of the districts that will receive the Games and also an educational program that looks to train teachers from all the country with regards to inclusion was launched through an educational platform.

The Pan American and Parapan American village also have a leading role in the progress for 2023. The 17 towers in construction, located in the Cerrillos district, are taking form and are in the last stages of their construction. The end of the structural work was confirmed to be done by December of this year. The home for the athletes and para athletes will be conditioned to receive high performance athletes.

On the countdown for Santiago 2023, the 500 days marked a precedent in Cerrillos, one of the districts with the most relevance at these Games, highlighting the family run that gathered thousands of children, young people and adults on a day full of entertainment and sports (Add when).

The mega sport event will gather around 9 thousand athletes that will come form 42 countries of the continent to compete on 39 Pan American and 17 Parapan American sports, with 60 and 18 disciplines respectively.
