Team chile results: Kristel Köbrich continues to shine

The Chilean athlete obtained an extraordinary result in the South American swimming championship by winning the 1500 meters with more than 20 seconds of advantage. And her personal best.

Buenos Aires suits her well. After almost a year without competing due to the pandemic, the most successful swimmer in the history of our country triumphed in her favorite race, the 1500 meters, by winning with 16.06.78 "an amazing time" as defined by Kristel herself.

“This puts me back in the top 10 in the world. This is very positive from here to Tokyo. We are really very happy. This is a very important step forward”, said Köbrich, who beat local Delfina Pignatiello (16.25.08), the top figure in Argentine swimming and current Pan-American champion in the same event at the Lima 2019 Games.

Kristel Köbrich achieved her best mark. An outstanding performance that adds to the silver achieved yesterday in the 800 meters freestyle, after being only one hundredth of a second behind the same Delfina Pignatiello.

“I am not 15 years old. I work, I live, I am passionate about this. And I still want to compete for my country, which I love. I keep vibrating for those things. I appreciate it and it generates the same motivation as always” Kristel had declared last year to   www.tokio2020.org

Words that reaffirm more than ever that, at 35 years old, the Chilean athlete who is already in Tokyo 2020 continues to push her limits.
