Everything you need to know about Para Archery in Santiago 2023

We will be able to enjoy watching 18 sports and 18 disciplines in the Parapan American Games to be held between November 17th through the 26th in 2023. Join us to know a little more about Para Archery that will be competed once more in these Games.

Para Archery has a long-standing history in the Paralympic Movement, being a part of every Games since Rome 1960.

Its practice consists in using a bow to shoot arrows to a target, and it requires precision, control, focus and repetition.  Archers shoot arrows from distances of 50m or 70m – using a recurve or compound bow – trying to shoot as close to the centre of the target as possible.

Athletes shoot their arrows with two types of bows: recurve bows, very distinguishable since its ends curve towards the outside in the upper part; and compound bows, which have mechanical pulleys, telescopic sights and releasing aides to help with precision. 1
